FIELD TRIP • SEPT - JUNE
Jackie’s Legacy, Your Leadership
Grades 2-12 • 90 Min
Explore Jackie Robinson’s core leadership traits and how he used them on and off the baseball field in this interactive, inquiry-based program.
Plan your visit or become a member today! Now booking school field trips for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025, plus join us for Harlem Community Day DEC 7!
Educators and students, visit the Jackie Robinson Museum for a unique look at the life and legacy of American hero, Jackie Robinson, as an athlete, activist, citizen, businessman, and family man. We welcome school groups (grades 5-12) to explore the Museum independently.
Review the guidelines below and request your visit today!
Your group will receive a brief introduction and orientation to our Museum from a member of our staff. From there, you’ll have the option of having your students explore independently with supervision from your chaperones, using the museum’s Scavenger Hunt activity to guide their exploration (free and available at the front desk), or implementing your own tour, lesson, or activity in the galleries. There is no time limit, but we find 60 to 75 minutes to be a typical visit duration. The Museum has two primary galleries and you can preview the components of each on the Exhibitions page.
How to Book
Select “Book Now” to choose the date and time for your visit. Add the booking fee of $25.00 to your “cart,” tell us about your group in a brief form, and complete the transaction to confirm your reservation.
Grade level
We feel that the Museum’s content and structure is most appropriate for students in grades 5 and up to explore independently. For classes in grades 1-4, we would love to have you visit, but we strongly recommend scheduling one of our field trip experiences rather than a self-guided visit. Learn more about field trips on the School Programs page.
Group Size
The maximum group size per time slot is 60 participants (including students + chaperones). For grades 5-8, we recommend a ratio of one (1) adult per seven (7) youth.
One at a Time
Each visit must be booked individually (i.e. one person cannot book for multiple groups in the same transaction).
Availability
Self-guided visits are offered during public museum hours on Thursday afternoons and Fridays. Time slots will be made available on a rolling basis throughout the year. If the dates you are interested in are not yet open, check back again and join our mailing list for alerts.
Reduced self-guided school admission rate – $5 per person. This rate is only available to K-12 schools visiting as a school field trip (i.e. not school-age children or groups visiting outside of school). Not a school group? Complete the Group Visit request form instead.
Booking fee – A $25 deposit (“booking fee”) is required by credit card to book your program online.
Two confirmation emails
Upon booking, you’ll receive an initial confirmation showing a $0 balance. You will receive a second confirmation email showing the updated outstanding balance based on your anticipated number of attendees.
Payment options
The remaining balance is due on arrival. We accept cash, credit card, and school-issued checks (no personal checks). Checks must be made payable to JACKIE ROBINSON FOUNDATION (not Museum) and include your order number (found in your confirmation email).
Find recommended pre-visit classroom resources and museum policies for your review in your confirmation email and on the Educator Resources page.
If you need to reschedule or cancel your reservation, contact Education Coordinator Sydney Augustine at [email protected] or 646-989-2778.
To reschedule, include a detailed explanation of your scheduling needs in your message.
If you cancel within one week of your visit, the booking fee will not be refunded.
